Adam & Jamie’s Story

Nestled along the Deschutes River, Bend Oregon is the home of Adam and Jamie Sears. They have three kids, Kellen, Sonoma and Aspen. Without a doubt, life is good for the Sears family in this scenic part of Oregon.

The Early Days

Adam was introduced to Color Glo through an ad he found on a website. It was 2016, and Adam was working in the newspaper industry as a manager. He has a degree in business management from Boise State University, and a desire to own and run his own business. Adam and his wife, Jamie, had a baby on the way, there was no time like the present for a change. Adam contacted Troy Smith, who owned the Color Glo franchise in Bend, immediately the potential was evident. Bend Oregon is a place where people want to live and there are plenty of tourists. There are rental properties with a need for repair, commercial furniture to service, and medical furniture resellers. Of course, there are car lots.

Adam jumped on a plane and came to Minnesota for 2 weeks.

Perfecting the Craft

Once in Minnesota, Adam got to work training with Dennis Stachowski. He went through the basics, learning all the systems and products. He had never worked with color matching or spray guns, that was fun. He shadowed Dennis in the field, which was beneficial. Dennis showed Adam the intricacies of dashboard repair, steering wheels and worn seats. When Adam got home, he sought the help of art classes to help perfect color matching and airbrush technique.

With a background in business, marketing and the paperwork side of things is straightforward for Adam. He used a combination of internet presence and word of mouth to build his client base. Adam understands the importance of being searchable online, he has a Color Glo website that gives him the benefits of the Search Engine Optimized content of the Color Glo International Website. Adam’s Color Glo business has a Google listing in his area with 28 reviews and a gallery of photos that allow potential customers to see the possibilities. In addition, he used a Color Glo Facebook page. Ultimately, Adam believes that a business will thrive if you treat your customers in the way you would like to be treated.

Advice From Adam

Adam’s best advice for a successful Color Glo Business? Keep working your marketing plan, shake hands, and drop off business cards. Be consistent, show up on time and work a schedule. Keeping your customers happy by achieving better results than expected. Your customers will know you value them when they come to expect your consistency, in turn you will become exceptionally valuable to them.

The Sears Family

The Sears family is a busy one. Adam and Jamie feel blessed with the flexibility of Adam’s schedule. Jamie works for Lonza Pharmaceuticals, which is based out of Switzerland. Jamie has the constraints of the usual corporate schedule, Adam’s schedule has the flexibility to enable him to take care of morning kid duties. As a family, they enjoy all that Bend, Oregon has to offer. Hiking, swimming, and the beautiful outdoors that makes it a sought-after community. Kellen, who is 16, enjoys basketball. He is mechanically oriented and could point that kind of direction for a career. Sonoma is 8, she loves life on the move. Swimming, jumping on a trampoline and keeping her parents busy. Aspen is 5 and starting kindergarten this year. She loves being with Kellen and Sonoma, keeping up with them in the way a little sister does best!

What do Adam and Jamie do for a little rest and relaxation? Adam told me that they made arrangements for the kids and took off to the Santa Cruz area for wine tasting and sightseeing. A little time away is good for the soul.
